We may ever confuse to find the other way in teaching English Expression, because both we (teachers) and students have been bored with teaching in the same technique. Most of us think for teaching expressing with Role Play and pairs dialogue Performance But we often don't have enough time to make all the students perform.
now we have a question, do we have other way to teach it? and the answer is yes. the technique is student interview students or find someone who. I have approved this way and it worked well as my students enjoy my class and understand to use the expression in real condition without any scenario.

Here are the steps of teaching expressing possibility and impossibility using cooperative teaching model (find someone who). I hope it will make your students enjoy in learning communicatively!
  1.     The teacher shows the picture as the trigger and asks the students about the words relate to the picture.
  2.     the teacher asks the students about the possible and impossible thing relate to the pictures using Yes/No question.
  3. the teacher explain and discuss about some sentences using expressing possibility and impossibility.
  4. The students are given a form** contain some question about something possible and impossible and ask it to theirs friend,
  5. The students write their friends’ name who say ‘yes’ in answering the question
  6. The students may ask their friend more than one question and one question may ask to more than one friend.
  7.  After they get some answer (name who say ‘yes’. they back to their table and the teacher divides them into some group of 5
  8. The student Collect all the answer and calculate it. if there are the same name they only take one
  9. After the answer is calculated and convert the number be percent (%)
  10. then it will be present in a diagram or chart after that the student will make a report based on the data.
  11.  The students report the survey result in front of the class
  12.  The teacher asks the student to write their question about what is possible and impossible at English corner and give comment on their friends’ question.
  13. Guide the students for make conclusion.

 **example of question form;
  1.       Is it possible for Jokowi make Indonesia be better?
  2.       Is it possible for someone stop smoking?
  3.       Is there any possibility for us reduce global warming?
  4.       Is there any possibility for us stop using vehicle?

Teaching Expressing Curiosity

I was confused about how to teach expressing curiosity in my class.  One of my students ever told me that I have to more creative in using teaching technique so that they will not bored any more in following my class when I asked their suggestion in the lesson before as reflection. At that time, I remembered about English corner technique that I did in TOT and TOEIC at Great Western Resort Hotel In Tangerang a month before. So I decided to try using that technique  with some modifications in some part.
I thought hard to recall all activities done and I tried to write it before I made a lesson planning about the activity that I would do in my class. Here are Some steps which I did in my classroom;

  1. 1.       The teacher shows some picture about natural disaster and ask the student about its name
  2. 2.       The teacher asks the student about how and why it happened, teacher and students talk about it
  3. 3.       Teacher  show the dialogue talking about expressing wonder (curiosity) and underline the expression used
  4. 4.       The teacher gives some other example of expressing curiosity
  5. 5.       The teacher asks the students to express their wonder to their friends and take turn
  6. 6.       The students write their curiosity on paper and stick it on the wall
  7. 7.       The student gives a comment on their friends’ wall
  8. 8.       The students sit back on their table and make a conclusion about the class.
During the activities the students were very excited in did every activity, especially when they write their curiosity about something on their paper while gave comment on their friends’ paper. They very enjoyed it and ignore the ball rang.  I asked about their feeling at the end activity, all of my student said that they were very happy and asked me to do it again in next lesson.
If you want to feel what I felt at that time, you may try the steps of its activity. Hopefully it can help you in make your class more exciting and increase your students’ motivation in learning English. Good luck!
